Barbie has impacted people from across the world to the Central Coast
GROVER BEACH, Calif. -- The Barbie Movie phenomenon has impacted people from across the world to the Central Coast.
Owner of Chameleon Style custom furniture store in Grover Beach Camay Arad says Barbie had an enormous impact on her life since her parents gifted her the first barbie doll in 1959.
Arad says each generation has had their own experience with the milestones of Barbie.
“Barbie has helped women evolved because she can be so many things, and Mattel has really thoughtfully tried to develop her with different outfits with different skin colors, with different abilities, disabilities. And I think that's really important to have in a doll," said Arad.
Caroline Raser and Dona Heyse took their daughters and granddaughters to World of Barbie exhibit in Los Angeles.
“It's fun to have a common experience, I think is crossing the generations and pointing out what we played with when I was a child," said Raser.
Barbie fans say the Barbie movie has brought people together and sparked important conversations, specifically about feminism.
“Barbie sends a positive message to all young women and men," said Heyse.
