Thieves target community mail boxes, mail stolen from two boxes in one Santa Maria neighborhood
SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Residents in one Santa Maria neighborhood recently had their mail stolen from two locked and secured community mail boxes.
The thief, or thieves, ripped open the entire metal mail box from behind the locked and secured individual boxes to steal the personal mail.
Both mail boxes vandalized were within one block of each other in the northeast neighborhood.
Residents impacted now have to retrieve their mail in person at the main Santa Maria Post Office until repairs or replacements are made to the vandalized boxes.
The USPS Inspector's Office is investigating the theft.
