Officers said they arrived to find the car on its roof in a drainage ditch next to the road, with the two occupants lying in the grass, appearing to have been ejected during the crash.

The department said that first responders transported the occupants, one adult man and one adult woman, to Marian Medical Center by ambulance with major injuries – the woman was later airlifted to a Santa Barbara Hospital.

Police said it seems as though the car was traveling northbound on Highway 135 north of Waller Ln when the car somehow lost control and flipped off of the roadway, the cause is not yet known.
