Two arrested for earlier stabbing at Santa Barbara City College after vehicle and foot chase in Ventura Monday

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – On Monday, two Santa Barbara County teens were arrested after a vehicle and foot chase in Ventura and are also being accused of being the suspects in a stabbing on the East Campus of Santa Barbara City College earlier this month.
On Feb. 23, around 7:30 p.m., the duo, 18-year-old Bryan Isaac Ramirez of Santa Barbara and a 17-year-old male juvenile from Goleta, were arrested in Ventura in connection with the stabbing at Santa Barbara City College on February 18 stated a press release Tuesday from the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Early the same day, around 2:09 p.m., officers spotted an unoccupied stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the 3300 block of East Main Street shared a press release Monday from the Ventura Police Department.
Street Crimes Unit detectives responded to the scene and watched two males enter the vehicle and drive away noted the Ventura Police Department.
According to Ventura Police, officers attempted a traffic stop before the driver rammed a marked patrol car with two officers inside before leading law enforcement on a chase through a residential neighborhood near Midtown Ventura.
The stolen vehicle eventually collided with a parked vehicle near Ventura High and both suspects inside fled on foot onto campus detailed the Ventura Police Department.
The school was placed on a temporary lockdown and both suspects were eventually taken into custody without further incident explained the Ventura Police Department.
Ramirez was booked at the Ventura County Jail for felony assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony evading, unlawful taking of a vehicle and felony child endangerment and he is being held in custody under a bail enhancement of $250,000 shared the Ventura Police Department.
The 17-year-old was booked into the Santa Barbara County Juvenile Hall for felony possession of a weapon of a concealed dirk or dagger, felony possession of a weapon on school grounds, felony child endangerment, and resisting arrest noted the Ventura Police Department.
"Our officers, including our detectives and School Resource Officers, demonstrated strong teamwork and professionalism throughout this incident," said Ventura Police Department Sergeant Jesus Nunez. "We also want to recognize the outstanding cooperation of Ventura High School staff, who responded quickly and worked closely with us to ensure the campus remained safe. No injuries were reported."
While the incident earlier this month is considered by local police to be an isolated incident and not connected to the shooting on Feb. 20 of this year that resulted in the death of Luis Gerardo Terrazas, further investigation is being conducted to determine whether the stabbing is gang related explained the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Anyone with more information about the stabbing investigation is asked to contact the Santa Barbara Police Department at 805-897-2371.
