Santa Barbara paraeducator arrested for arranging to meet a minor for lewd acts
GOLETA, Calif. – Deputies arrested 34-year-old Santa Barbara resident Adam Escarcega for a felony charge of meeting up with a minor for lewd acts Monday afternoon.
Deputies arrived at the 6800 block of Hollister Avenue around 3:35 p.m. to meet a reporting party who informed deputies that Escarcega had arranged a meeting online with a person he believed to be a juvenile, according to a press release Monday from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office
Escarega was later detained at the scene and booked at the Main Jail for felony soliciting a minor for lewd acts and is being held on $75,000 bail shared the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
The Santa Barbara Unified School District's Superintendent issued the following statement Tuesday in response to Your News Channel inquiries:
Santa Barbara Unified School District is aware of a video circulating on social media regarding alleged improper behavior by a paraeducator at Adams Elementary.
We are still learning all the facts regarding this delicate situation and assure parents, students and staff that we are cooperating fully with law enforcement as they investigate these serious allegations.
This staff member will be on administrative leave while the investigations are completed by both the District and law enforcement.
Santa Barbara Unified School District does not have additional details to provide at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office or local law enforcement.
