Santa Barbara Humane Visits to Show Off Sweet Ol’ Missy

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – This morning's newscast featured a very special guest that is just as sweet as she is tiny! Missy from Santa Barbara Humane is a lovable 1-year-old Chihuahua- mix who is now available for adoption. Missy is just about five pounds, and is looking a warm place to call home for this upcoming winter.

Dori Villalon, SB Human's COO, says Missy is the perfect addition to any family and urges anyone interested in adopting Missy or any other small dog to take their size into consideration.

Dori says its essential to keep small dogs warm, and to protect them from roughhousing with bigger dogs or falling off couches or beds. Plan for regular veterinary care, especially dental care since teeth can crowd in their small mouths and they are prone to dental disease.

I think just expect to get a lot of attention because a dog like Missy, she loves to be in a carrier or a pouch so you can take her anywhere and you're just gonna get a lot of people coming up to you and wanting to love on your little dog," said Dori.

Santa Barbara Humane does not want cost to be an obstacle in adoption, so they are offering FREE spay and neuter clinics through March 2027 at their Santa Maria location!

Missy the Chihuahua is now available for adoption, and all information on her or any other pets can be found on Santa Barbara Humane's website.

In addition to housing and caring for pets, Santa Barbara Humane is also preparing to host some upcoming events!

This Saturday, October 17th, a music tribute to the The Beatles will rock out the Arlington Theatre. This night of 60s hits is the 2nd annual charity event benefitting Adam’s Angels and Santa Barbara Humane.

On November 7th, another charity event for Santa Barbara will take place. The Doublewide Kings return to the Granada stage with the Santa Barbara Symphony for another electrifying rock-meets-classical experience.
