MONTECITO, Calif. — The Westmont College Class of 2021 definitely earned their nickname, The Warriors.

The class saw their college experience filled with one disaster after another. First, the Thomas Fire postponed finals. Then the debris flows. And they’re now graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday, the Class of 2021 will graduate in person on the college’s soccer field, Thorrington Field. Each graduate is allowed to bring two guests. Each group of three, the graduate and two guests, will sit in one of 312 pods across the field.

306 students are graduating Saturday. More than 1,000 people are expected to be in attendance, in accordance with COVID-19 guidance. Commencement begins at 9:30 a.m.
