Lucia Mar appoints new superintendent
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - Lucia Mar Unified School District has found their next superintendent.
The Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday, appointing Paul Fawcett as the next superintendent.
“We are confident that he has the right combination of skills and experience to lead our district. He stood out among an impressive group of applicants at the conclusion of a statewide search,” Board President Vicki Meagher said in a news release.
Fawcett has been Director of Special Education at Lucia Mar since 2016 and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
He has worked as both a high school principal and has taught K-12 and postsecondary school in the past. He and his wife, Casey, have two sons.
“I’m both honored and humbled by this opportunity,” Fawcett said. “I’m looking forward to collaboratively working with our board, current leadership, and staff to serve our district’s students, parents and community."
An employment agreement and transition plans will be presented to the board on May 19.
The school district has been without a superintendent since the resignation of previous superintendent, Andy Stenson, in February.
