Tracking rain and high surf this weekend

KEYT

Happy Friday! Many areas wake up to clouds by the beaches with a slower clearing pattern on board. Mostly sunny skies prevail and 80s and 90s are in the forecast for most. This is a slight cooling trend from days prior but still warm. All heat alerts have been allowed to expire. Overnight lows will cool as well, bringing needed heat relief for most.

More marine layer influence appears Saturday before a push of clouds by the afternoon. A mostly cloudy day is on board with temperatures falling quickly. Expect near normal temperatures of 70s and even some upper 60s! Winds will increase and a few pop up showers are possible. Most rain appears to be south of our coverage zone. Beach Hazard Statements and High Surf Advisories are set for Saturday morning for our entire coastline. The remnant from hurricane Rachel will bring dangerous waves and beach flooding. Marine Hazards are set in place through Monday morning.

The interesting part of this forecast is Sunday and Monday. Look for pop up showers and cooler temperatures. Low pressure plus additional moisture will make storms hard to forecast. Most of the rain appears through San Diego and LA, however, we cannot rule out some measurable rainfall in the Central Coast. Most of our rain appears to be light to moderate. Timing will become more accurate by Saturday, so tune in for the latest!
