Police ask public for video in area of Santa Barbara homicide
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Police Department is looking for video from surveillance cameras on homes in the area of 1000 Olive Street near the corner of Carrillo after a homicide Saturday morning.
The victim was stabbed multiple times. He is a male in his 20's.
Officials say he later died at Cottage Hospital.
Residents with video of the scene between 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. are asked to review it and provide images to detectives trying to determine who is responsible for the attack.
The message went out through the Ring door bell system which has a camera for the homeowner to see who is at their door or in the area of their porch.
One neighbor, Luis Juarez said he came home a couple of hours after it happened. "There were cops on both sides of the street blocking it off," he said. "It's never happened. I've never seen anything like that."
Many people did not know it happened because of the time frame. They also said it was isolated and they are not living in fear.
The neighborhood was describe as "calm. It is very peaceful. Nobody is nosey around here," said Juarez.
Late in the day, those who knew the victim said he was the father of a four-year-old and worked a full time job locally.
