One man arrested after a shooting in Santa Barbara

One man was arrested after he fired a gun during an argument Wednesday morning. Police are searching for the other man involved.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara Police arrested one man after an argument took place that resulted in gunfire early Wednesday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Santa Barbara Police responded to an apartment on the 300 block of West Micheltorena Street after receiving multiple reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they discovered that two men had gotten into an argument. Towards the end of the argument, one man retrieved a machete while the other got a gun.

The man with the gun reportedly fired a shot up into the air. The man who had the machete fled the scene. Police are searching for him.

The man with the gun retreated into his apartment after the incident. Police said they brought out armored vehicles, and the gunman voluntarily exited the apartment with the other occupants from the residence.

Enough evidence was available to know who the shooter was. He was arrested on the scene.

Police acquired a search warrant for the house and found the gun that was believed to be used in the incident. Narcotics were also found inside the apartment.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. It is currently unknown what the relationship is between the two men involved.

Police are investigating the incident further.
