Honolulu Man Now Facing Murder Charges After Mary Mueller of Santa Paula Died From Her Injuries

SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 35-year-old Honolulu man is now facing a murder charge after Mary Mueller, the 65-year-old woman left in critical condition after an attack, died from her injuries.

On Aug. 20, around 10:55 a.m., officers were sent to a property in the 18000 block of East Telegraph Road for an adult woman with a head injury stated a press release last week from the Santa Paula Police Department.

Arriving officers found a woman, identified Friday, Aug. 28, as 65-year-old Mary Mueller of Santa Paula, with life-threatening head injuries from a blunt force-type object outside of the property and she was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment detailed the local police department.

According to Santa Paula Police, Mueller remained in critical condition until she died from her injuries on the morning of Aug. 26, 2026.

Investigators identified the suspected attacker, a 35-year-old Honolulu man, who had fled from the scene of the attack and was later located near Goleta where he was taken into custody after a traffic stop around 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2026, shared the Santa Paula Police Department.

Following the death of Mary Mueller, the 35-year-old was arrested and booked on a charge of murder and he remains in custody with bail set at $2 million added the local law enforcement agency.
