KEYT signal restored at snowy Broadcast Peak

Power to the KEYT transmitter atop Broadcast Peak was restored Tuesday morning.

The over-the-air signal had been offline for three days.

Engineers were able to access the site, which received a dusting of snow from recent storms, to restore power to the site.

A power issue at Broadcast Peak in the Santa Ynez Mountains has temporarily disabled the KEYT over-the-air transmitter.

Broadcast Peak is serviced by Pacific Gas & Electric which has been unable to restore power to the peak after the weekend’s storms. The transmitter was operating on generator power for the majority of the weekend.

Due to an unknown event at the site, backup power has not been restored as of Sunday morning. The site will remain off air until engineers are able to safely access the site later this week. The over-the-air signal for San Luis Obispo County is also affected, as that transmitter relies on a feed from Broadcast Peak.

NewsChannel 3 can still be accessed via the KEYT.com stream, which is unaffected.

This outage does not affect the over-the-air signal of any of our other stations.

Satellite and cable customers are unaffected by the outage.
