“Wanted Posters” Bringing In Tips After UCSB Gang Rape
University of California police say they’re fielding numerous tips after posting “wanted” fliers around the campus of University of California Santa Barbara and throughout Isla Vista.
The fliers show composite sketches of two suspects linked to last weekend’s brutal gang rape and beating of a 19-year-old student.
Earlier this week investigators pinpointed the crime scene to a remote spot on campus.
UC Police Sergeant Rob Romero said people are calling in and e-mailing tips — some anonymously — that are filtering to one lead detective.
Romero was tight-lipped Friday, but said the survivor is still helping investigators with information and officers have not yet made any arrests.
He also said despite the two suspect sketches, police are looking for “three or more suspects.”
A ‘Take Back the Night’ rally was held Friday afternoon on the edge of campus outside the Pardall tunnel. A larger, community rally is being organized for next Friday night.
