SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) — The Santa Barbara community is honoring the life and service of World War II veteran Arthur Max Petersen in a special ceremony Friday afternoon at Santa Barbara cemetery.

The 102-year-old served during some of the war’s largest and most significant battles.

Petersen’s military service became part of a life remembered for courage, dedication and a lasting connection to his community.

A celebration honoring his life and legacy is being held at 2:00pm at Santa Barbara cemetery.

Family, friends and community members are gathering to recognize a veteran whose service stretches back more than eight decades.
