Santa Barbara schools, mayor team up in Safer Apart PSA
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Santa Barbara students are back in the classroom, virtually that is.
The school year has started for most of Santa Barbara County schools.
Santa Barbara's mayor, Cathy Murillo, and Santa Barbara Unified School District superintendent, Hilda Maldonado, teamed up for a COVID-19 safety public service announcement.
They collaborated to make two videos, one in English one in Spanish. The goal to reach the students where they are, online. And help the younger generations be safer and even help reminder older generation too.
Maldonado said the better the community does at physical distancing, mask wearing and hand washing, the sooner students can return to the classroom.
However, she emphasized school won't look like it used to until a vaccine is available.
The City has already distributed the videos on City TV and their YouTube page. While SBUSD has shared the PSAs on their social media.
