Santa Barbara County Public Health provides updates on COVID-19 response as vaccine eligibility expands

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department is continuing its ongoing discussion series on NewsChannel 3 Midday.

On Thursday, public health director Dr. Van Do-Reynoso spoke with NewsChannel's Joe Buttitta about the continuing efforts to get the public vaccinated. This comes following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's endorsement of the Pfizer/BioNTech for use in children aged 12-15.

The weekly discussion series also touched on breaking news that the CDC would no longer require fully-vaccinated people to wear masks in most settings. California Gavin Newsom said on Wednesday that the mask mandate in California would be lifted June 15. It's unclear if that timeline has been accelerated following the CDC's decision.
