Mother Nature Pulls a Halloween Trick With Two Days of Rain

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Overnight rain showers signaled a Halloween weekend scare for those who have big plans over the next two days.

The forecast is for light showers both Friday morning and evening with a cloudy day in between.

Saturday the main rain will be in the afternoon and evening, usual primetime for trick-or-treaters to be out.

There will also be many parties at private homes and night spots on the Central Coast that will be modified to deal with the rain.

Already many outside decorations have been soaked in neighborhoods, including those that are well known for Halloween festivities and often in coordination with each other on the same block.

No major issues on Highway 101 were noted by mid-morning, but the roads are slick and drivers are anxious due to the Halloween activities and the weekend ahead.

Carpinteria has a downtown trick-or-treat event for kids Friday afternoon.

Santa Barbara has a business trick-or-treat multi-block party for kids Saturday afternoon and that is about the same time as the well known Ghost Village Road themed event on Coast Village Road.

Boo at the Zoo continues through this weekend with special decorations and activities throughout the Santa Barbara Zoo for an after hours special event price.

The California Highway Patrol is urging motorists to be aware of not only weather related challenges but other distractions linked to Halloween activities.

For those going to high school football games, they should be prepared for showers and watch the hourly forecasts closely.
