Two day controlled burn at Montańa de Oro Park
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – California State Parks will conduct controlled burns in Montaña de Oro Park beginning Tuesday, Dec. 20 through Thursday, Dec. 22 between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to CalFire San Luis Obispo.
These controlled burns are to limit wildfire risk and allow for native plant species to grow without intervention from invading brush. The two-day burn targets 30 different burn piles.
The burn will take place at various locations around the eucalyptus forest alongside Pecho Valley road.
Eucalyptus is an invasive highly flammable plant. CalFire SLO warn residents not to worry if they see smoke in the area.
