Several Ventura County football players selected in NFL Draft

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Former Oaks Christian High School teammates Michael Pittman Jr, and Colby Parkinson were two of four players with Ventura County ties selected in the NFL Draft.

Pittman was taken in the second round(34th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts and Parkinson went to the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round(133rd overall) by the Seattle Seahawks.

Pittman and Parkinson were teammates on the 2015 Oaks Christian team that went 11-1 and was ranked 22nd in the State by Maxpreps.

Both played in the Pac-12, Pittman a standout wide receiver at USC and the 6'7 Parkinson was a force at tight end for Stanford especially in the red zone.

Former Newbury Park and Calabasas star Darnay Holmes was selected in the second round (110th overall) by the New York Giants while quarterback Jake Luton (Ventura College) was drafted in the sixth round (189th overall) by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Holmes is a cornerback out of UCLA while Luton played at Oregon State.

Former Thousand Oaks quarterback Case Cookus signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants following the NFL Draft.

Cookus went to Northern Arizona.
