Time is Ticking to Turn in General Election Ballots at U.S. Post Office

MGN

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - If you are turning in your ballot for the November 3rd election through the U.S. Postal Service,  today was a key day.

The Santa Barbara County Elections Department has recommended voters using the post office turn them in seven days in advance of the close of polls.

That will insure the ballots arrive on time, and can be verified for the election.

Throughout the day, voters were seen using the post office boxes on Anacapa St. in downtown as one of their choices.

Ballots will still be accepted by mail if they have a postmark on or before November 3rd.

The post office mail pick up and processing timeline has changed in the last year and elections officials have urged voters to not cut it close.

One suggestion is to go to the counter and have your ballot hand stamped.

The other options are still viable and reliable.

They include the white vote-by-mail ballot drop boxes, or you can bring the ballot directly to the elections office counter and you can also vote in person on election day before 8 p.m.

All envelopes must have the voters signature for verification purposes.

They can also be dropped off by another person if that signature is completed.
