Tracking extreme heat and thunderstorms Thursday

We begin the morning with clouds and toasty temperatures. The heat continues today with an additional threat for showers and thunderstorms. Many swirling storms near Mexico will produce the chance of pop up storms. Rain amounts will be light and this will barely sway temperatures. All heat alerts and Red Flag Warnings are still in place. A Beach Hazard Statement continues for Ventura County beaches as well. Highs rise to 80s, 90s and triple digits. Winds will be strong at times.

We continue with hot and humid weather Friday. Thunderstorm risk continues throughout the day, when thunder roars go indoors. Expect a 1-5 degree cooling trend from days prior. Many heat alerts end by 8pm.

We begin a slight cooldown this weekend and a more notable cooldown next week. Many areas return to normal with temperatures to start the new month of September.
