Ventura Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Attacking Woman with Knife

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 33-year-old Ventura man was arrested for attempted murder over the weekend after driving a woman he met at a bar in downtown Ventura to an isolated area off of Wheeler Canyon Road before attacking her with a knife.

On July 25, just after 10 p.m., a woman arrived at the Ventura Police Department with significant injuries and she was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for further medical treatment shared the local police department in a press release.

According to Ventura Police, the woman reported that she had met a man, later identified as a 33-year-old Ventura man, at a bar in downtown Ventura and they had left the bar in a vehicle together.

As the man and woman drove away from downtown Ventura, he "became angry with her" and began physically attacking her and threatening to kill her detailed the Ventura Police Department.

The 33-year-old then drove the woman to a remote area of Santa Paula off of Wheeler Canyon Road where he drew a knife and cut her while threatening to kill her explained the local law enforcement agency.

A nearby resident heard the altercation and interrupted the violence which allowed the woman to flee the scene noted the Ventura Police Department.

The woman eventually made her way to the local police department where she relayed what had happened detailed the Ventura Police Department.

Officers then contacted the 33-year-old and took him into custody without incident added the local law enforcement agency.

According to Ventura Police, the Ventura man was booked on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment by violence, domestic violence, destruction of evidence, and criminal threats.
