Evacuation orders issued for Lake Piru Recreation Area while crews battle 292-acre brush fire
PIRU, Calif. – Firefighters are battling a 292-acre brush fire outside of the City of Piru and at 1 p.m. Thursday, an evacuation order was issued for the entire Lake Piru Recreation Area.

The image below, courtesy of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, shows the current extent of evacuations within the purple box as well as the approximate location of burned areas as the red highlight. The image also shows Highway 126/E. Telegraph Road to the south and Interstate 5 to the east.
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, the fire is at 0 percent containment explained the Ventura County Fire Department.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, 44 units and 210 firefighters have been dedicated to the fire response which has been impacted by steep, rugged terrain.
The United Water Conservation District issued the following statement about the ongoing fire response, "United Water Conservation District and Lake Piru thank the heroic firefighters for their courageous efforts to protect Lake Piru during the Felicia Fire. Lake Piru has historically been used to provide fire support, and now we are grateful to those fighting to save it. We are available to provide whatever support is needed."
