Car fire on Highway 101 delays southbound traffic through Carpinteria
CARPINTERIA, Calif. - A car fire delayed Monday morning traffic on Highway 101 southbound.
According to the CHP incident website, the fire was first reported around 7:03 a.m., and the Newschannel 3 Santa Barbara Skycam caught smoke from the fire drifting over the ocean.
The CHP was also reporting that the driver was able to get out of the vehicle while first responders were dispatched.
Around 7:35 a.m., the CHP incident page was reporting that the fuel line of the car had ruptured and that the Department of Transportation was called to the scene.
It was not immediately clear how long it would take for crews to clear the mess. Traffic on the southbound 101 was reduced down to one lane, during the clean up.
