Eye on the tropics, Saturday Sept 26th forecast

Beautiful today with mostly seasonal temperatures and the usual routine of coastal fog and inland sunshine gracing the region. Look for more fog overnight and in to early Saturday. Overnight lows will be mostly in the 60's and 50's. Highs on Saturday are expected to cool even further with temps staying in the 60's along the coast and 70's and 80's farther inland.

Looking ahead, the strong onshore flow will hold through the weekend with even further cooling expected by Sunday. We could also see the effects of Hurricanes Odalys and Polo in the ocean and in our atmosphere. Surf will likely build by late Saturday and then stay elevated through the start of the work week at ;east. The swell will be very strong and from a steep southerly angle. If the Polo stays on its present expected course, we should expect waves to stay below 8 feet for our south facing beaches. However, if the storm meanders a bit farther west and then push more north, surf could be much bigger. We will need to monitor closely for beach impacts as well as maybe some sprinkles as tropical clouds fill in Sunday and Monday. Beyond the tropical threats, things are expected to turn from cool to very warm as high pressure builds by mid week. Temperatures will likely jump well above normal mid week and stay there through late in the work week.
