More heat on the way, Monday Aug 24th forecast

Temperature remained very warm for just about all areas, even for some of our local beaches which meant that our beaches were a very popular choice for Sunday fun. Patchy fog is expected along the Central Coast and possibly south of Point Conception. Whatever marine layer that does form will be shallow and should burn off easily Monday morning. Look for highs on Monday to be very warm or hot for all inland areas with Advisories in place. Temperatures will reach in to the upper 80's and 90's with possibly a low one hundred possible. Coastal areas should be mostly in the 70's with a few 80's possible where the sea breeze remains fairly weak.

Looking ahead, August will continue to live up to its reputation as more very warm and hot temperatures hold through most of next week. Advisories and warnings are in place through Tuesday for now, but will likely be extended with even heat warnings added for our warmest inland areas. The onshore flow with the cooler sea breeze and fog will stay confined to the immediate coast and might even be absent for areas south of Point Conception. The warm ocean is weakening the marine layer and the inland heat will push pretty far west.  We will also need to keep a very close eye on the Monsoon flow as it pushes up sub tropical moisture. We all also are seeing a good deal of activity of tropical storm and hurricane potential off the coast of Mexico. Tropical Storm Iselle sits well to our south and west, but an increase in southerly swell is expected by Tuesday. Even further out, our computers see possibly two more named systems for the end of the month and in to early September.
