Light rain Friday, overnight thunderstorms Saturday

Happy Friday! We begin the morning with overcast skies and pockets of dense fog. Highs rise into the 60s, right around average. A few pop up showers will bring misting or so of rain. Winds strengthen this afternoon but will be just below advisory levels. Marine waters look calm for the time being, but hazardous seas arrive Saturday.

Light showers arrive Saturday morning. Most rainfall will be quick and will not amount to measurable precipitation until the overnight hours. Highs rise into the 60s and upper 50s, this will be the coolest day of the forecast. The main band of showers and thunderstorms arrive by 8pm in San Luis Obispo County. Expect the lightning and thunder by 10pm in Santa Maria and c loser to midnight in Santa Barbara. Ventura will get the remaining rain by 2am or so. San Luis Obispo will receive the most rainfall, most projecttions around an inch or so. Around half an inch is expected in Santa Barbara and Ventura.

Most of the heavy rain will exit the Central Coast by Sunday morning. We are left with a few lingering showers in mountainous areas but minimal rain at the beaches. We begin to dry out Monday and temperatures return to normal by mid week.
