Wear layers for another cold morning and mild afternoon Wednesday

Low temperatures Wednesday morning will be extremely chilly with some areas near freezing. There is a frost advisory until 8:00 am on the Central Coast, South Coast, and in the Santa Ynez and Ojai Valleys. High temperatures will be a tad warmer than Tuesday, reaching the low to mid 60s, and will be near normal away from the beach. Wind-prone areas could even reach the low 70s.

With weak offshore flow, skies will stay bright. There will be less wind overall. High pressure will build further.

A wind advisory for the Ventura County Central and Southeast valleys, mountains, and inland coast will expire at 10:00 am. Gusts will be weakest on the coast at 35 mph, and strongest in the mountains at up to 50 mph.

Thursday is our transition today as high pressure moves out and a trough approaches. The trough will move into Northern California Friday morning and send a cold front down the coast. The front will likely fizzle out as it reaches our region, and any rain chances have significantly diminished.

Weak offshore flow will bring a lot of sunshine Saturday, plus warm temperatures. It will be the nicest day of this week.

On late Saturday night into Sunday, another system will move our direction. It may fizzle out too, with only a slight chance of rain currently. Plus, gusty northerly winds will pick up on Sunday night.
