Hot weather ahead

Strong high pressure along with decreasing marine layer influence and light offshore flow will result in hot temperatures in most areas through the end of the week. Wednesday and Thursday will be the hottest days with temperatures as high as the upper 90s to triple digits in the valleys, and 80s to around 100 for coastal areas. Temperatures will begin to cool by Friday but will remain well above normal through the weekend.

Another hot day across the valleys with highs soaring into the triple digits once again, and in most locations 3-6 degrees warmer than yesterday's already hot temps. Coastal areas continue to be strongly influenced by the marine layer and temperatures are much cooler there. For Wednesday we're expecting a big change for the coast as offshore gradients increase. The combo of those two factors should push the marine layer off the coast and allow temps to heat up, possibly to record levels. 

Heat advisories have been expanded to cover all areas until 8PM Friday as coastal cities are in the 80s and 90s with inland spots in the triple digits.

The increase in northeast flow will lead to some increasing sundowner winds the next couple evenings across southern Santa Barbara County.

Above normal temperatures are expected to continue well into next week, though cooling will start this weekend with the eventual return of marine layer clouds to the coast. This may happen as early as Saturday though more likely Sunday or Monday.
