Schuetz & Taff win Athlete of the Week honors at SB Round Table luncheon
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - For the third time in this fall sports season a Santa Barbara High School girls volleyball player is awarded the Female Athlete of the Week honors by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table.
Sophomore Nicole Schuetz is the latest winner after she led the Dons to a sweep over Dos Pueblos as well as a semifinal finish in the prestigious Tournament of Champions event over the weekend.
Against DP she had 9 kills, 7 blocks and 3 aces to the Channel League-leading Dons completed a season sweep over both San Marcos and Dos Pueblos.
Her teammates Shae Delaney and Gracie Meinzer have also won Athlete of the Week awards this fall.
The Male Athlete of the Week went to Carpinteria High School water polo goalie Jacob Taff.
He scored a length of the pool goal as time expired as the Warriors edged Ventura 14-13.
As well as the game-winning goal, Taff also made 14 saves against the Cougars.
