Righetti wins a CIF title in girls basketball for the first time since 1978

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Righetti used a big second half to cruise to the CIF-Central Section Division 1 championship whipping Bakersfield 55-38.

Malia Cabigon scored a game-high 21 points.

She was one of five seniors on the Warriors that also graduated high school later that night.

The Warriors led 22-21 at half before pulling away as they led 45-33 after three quarters.

It is the first CIF crown for Righetti since they won back-to-back championships in 1977 and 1978 back and that was in the CIF-Southern Section.
