San Marcos girls soccer blanks Malibu 4-0 in CIF-SS Division 5 first round playoff game

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - It was a frustrating first half for the undefeated San Marcos High School girls soccer team.

But the Royals patience paid off in the second half as they erupted for four goals and they shutout Malibu 4-0 in a CIF-SS Division 5 first round game.

The 11-0 Royals will play at Hillcrest of Riverside on Friday, May 14.

San Marcos fired off 16 shots in the first half but could not get on the scoreboard.

But in the 58th minute Becca Rodriguez scored on a free kick from 20 yards out and that opened up the floodgates.

One minute later Paige Ingram scored from point blank range after the ball bounced off the post.

The Royals added 2 more goals and goalkeeper Olivia Dozer made sure they got their ninth straight shutout.
