Santa Paula Man Arrested for Felony Assault After Man Hospitalized with Multiple Injuries

SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 26-year-old Santa Paula man was arrested for felony assault Wednesday after a man was found with multiple injuries in the Santa Clara Riverbed the day prior.

On Aug. 25, around 11:47 p.m., deputies responded to the Santa Clara Riverbed near the 12th Street bridge just outside of Santa Paula city limits for an assault that had just occurred shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office in a press release Thursday.

Arriving deputies contacted a witness who led them to the riverbed and to an adult man with multiple injuries including head trauma and the injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries detailed the local sheriff's office.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, an investigation resulted in the identification of the suspect as a 26-year-old Santa Paula man who had fled the scene before the arrival of deputies and he was not found nearby after a search of the surrounding area.

On Aug. 26, officers located and detained the 26-year-old and further investigation revealed more evidence linking the Santa Paula man to the assault and he was then booked on a charge of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury explained the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
