Oxnard Driver Dies After Crashing Into Lewis Road Embankment Saturday Afternoon

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 26-year-old Oxnard man has died after a single-vehicle crash on Lewis Road Saturday afternoon.

On Aug. 15, around 3:10 p.m., dispatchers began to receive calls about a crash on South Lewis Road, north of University Drive, stated a press release from the California Highway Patrol-Ventura Area (CHP).

An initial investigation of the scene revealed that a 26-year-old Oxnard man was driving alone in a white Toyota Tacoma northbound on Lewis Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the truck veered to the left, across oncoming lanes of southbound traffic, and over the left shoulder detailed the CHP.

According to the CHP, the truck crashed into the embankment alongside the roadway and overturned multiple times, leaving the driver with major injuries.

The 26-year-old was transported from the scene to Los Robles Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shared the CHP.

It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal collision, but the investigation into the incident remains ongoing noted the CHP.
