Ventura Man Arrested for Murder in Connection with Fatal Sunday Morning Shooting

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 52-year-old Ventura man was arrested in connection with a shooting Sunday morning that resulted in the death of a local woman.

The Ventura Police Department shared that the fatal incident is believed to have been an isolated incident at this point in its investigation and there is no broader threat to the community.

On July 19, around 3:24 a.m., a patrolling officer spotted an injured woman, later identified as a 34-year-old Ventura resident, near the intersection of West Ramona Street and Olive Street stated a press release Sunday from the Ventura Police Department.

The woman was gravely injured from an apparent gunshot wound and she was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where she died shortly after arrival shared the local law enforcement agency.

According to Ventura Police, as medical responders were heading to the scene, dispatchers began receiving calls reporting a shooting in the area and law enforcement personnel responded to the area to conduct an initial investigation of the incident.

Later the same day, the Ventura Police Department shared that a 52-year-old Ventura man was arrested at his home in the 700 block of Olive Street in connection with the fatal shooting.

Detectives obtained and then executed a search warrant at the home and additional evidence linked to the alleged crime was collected at the scene noted the local law enforcement agency.

The 52-year-old was booked into the Ventura County Jail on a charge of murder added the Ventura Police Department.
