Tony’s Pizzaria Surfer’s Point Turns 67

Tony's Pizzaria turns 67 with 60s theme

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) Tony's Pizzaria Surfer's Point is celebrating its 67th anniversary.

The pizzaria with the neon sign near the beach and the Ventura County Fairgrounds is known for live music and dancing.

The band Psychedelic Summer played on Friday night and inspired Tony's to host a hippie costume contest.

Robin Beccue and Carl Morehouse won Tony's gift cards based on audience applause.

"So this is our 67th anniversary, my father opened it in 1959 and we are so excited to still be serving the community and we appreciate all the support and everybody who comes out to still see us a Tony's Pizzaria, cheers to 67 years," said Bruce Barrios.

Customers still order from the same take-out window, but the grounds have been improved to support live music, and lots of room for diners.
