Body of local man recovered from Santa Clara River Thursday now part of homicide investigation

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – The body of 43-year-old Eduardo Castro was found in the waters of the Santa Clara River Thursday and his death is now under investigation as a homicide.

On April 2, around 1:38 p.m., first responders were dispatched for a call of a human body in the waters of the Santa Clara River, just south of the A Street bridge stated the Ventura County Sheriff's Office in a press release Friday.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the body was spotted partially submerged and caught up in foliage near the center of fastest-flowing parts of the local waterway.

The body was removed from the water and suspicious injuries were located across the man's body indicating an assault noted the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The man was identified as Eduardo Castro, a local unhoused man, and his death is now being investigated as a homicide shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
