Fans fill the fairgrounds to see the X Games in Ventura

X Games entertain fans on sold out Saturday

VENTURA, Calif.-The Skateboard Park at the X Games in Ventura attracted a capacity crowd on Saturday.

Athletes, competed, signed autographs and shared some tips.

And the athletes are happy to share their tips

"Just keep having fun with it, don't take it too seriously. I just like monkeying around and having fun so. Do what we do," said Keegan Palmer, who won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

The skateboarder who came in second on Saturday said one of his favorite parts is seeing friends attending the X Games.

"It is pretty fun event because all my friends are here I get hang out with a bunch of people I don't get to see everyday at contests.

Fans who didn't get a seat in the stands could watch the competition on several giant screens broadcasting the games live at the fairgrounds.

They also had plenty to do.

Smaller parks gave skateboarders a chance to skate at the fairgrounds.

Those in attendance also had a check out the skateboard art and dance to a DJ.

They also had a chance to beat the heat at the fairgrounds by the beach.

"This is perfect time to be here, Beautiful weekend, Beautiful Saturday. I couldn't ask for better weather and great atmosphere, so I'm very happy to be here, " said Eric Danielsen.

Event staff seemed to be enjoying it, too.

"Oh, it's so so fun. We're having such a good time. We saw Tony Hawk the other day. We just saw somebody hit the big air so high. We're having a great time. and now this view from here is freaking incredible, " said Olivia Sorgsman who has worked other events at the fairgrounds.

It is fun for locals to hear a voice they know from KTYD (99.9 in Santa Barbara)
