SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A two-vehicle collision at Las Positas and Calle Real this morning sent at least two children, ages 11 and 12, to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

Others were being evaluated at the scene.

Santa Barbara City Fire and police units joined AMR at the scene of the intersection crash about 9:30 a.m.

An SUV was crushed on the passenger side. Airbags had deployed.

Those involved were on the curb getting medical care at the scene. None of the injuries were said to be serious.

A pickup truck was on its side after it flipped in the crash.

Eyewitnesses giving their statements to police officers said one of the drivers said he went through a yellow light prior to the crash.

The cause was not known at the time.

Debris went for about a quarter of a block on to the Las Positas overpass. Some of it was spread by passing cars driving through glass and broken car parts on the roadway.

A few lanes were closed while the cleanup took place and the vehicles were towed.
