Santa Barbara Police investigating stabbing

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – The Santa Barbara Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

SBPD officers received calls about the stabbing in the 600 block of West Islay Street before taking a 27-year-old victim of the stabbing to Cottage Hospital.

SBPD officers later investigated the incident and found that the victim was intoxicated and had trespassed onto private property.

The 27-year-old became physically aggressive, and the resident used a knife in self-defense. Criminal charges are being referred to the SB County District Attorney's Office against the 27-year-old man.

SBPD investigators determined the stabbing as an isolated incident and there is no current threat to public safety.
