Santa Maria Man Arrested In Connection With Burglary At Tropea Avenue Home Wednesday

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 28-year-old Santa Maria man was arrested for burglary and vehicle theft after an investigation of a burglary at a Tropea Avenue home Wednesday.

On Sep. 2, around 8 a.m., officers were sent to the 1700 block of Tropea Avenue for a reported burglary in progress stated a press release from the Santa Maria Police Department Thursday.

Officers determined that a burglary had occurred and that a firearm and a vehicle had been taken while the residents were away detailed the law enforcement agency.

According to Santa Maria Police, an investigation led officers to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of West Bethel Street where they contacted and then arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with their investigation.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at an associated apartment and there, officers recovered the missing firearm and eventually were able to locate and return the missing vehicle added the Santa Maria Police Department.

The 28-year-old was booked into the Santa Barbara County Northern Branch Jail on charges of burgalry and vehicle theft shared the local police department.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, the 28-year-old remains in custody with bail set at $25,000.
