A man suffered major injuries after sedan goes over the side of Highway 154 east of the Lake Cachuma entrance Wednesday morning

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A man was transported with major injuries after the vehicle he was driving went 30 feet over the edge of Highway 154 just east of the entrance to Lake Cachuma Wednesday morning.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the sedan went over the edge in steep terrain and came to rest on a tree which complicated the rescue of the driver.

The driver needed help out of the sedan after the crash and was eventually transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance with major injuries shared the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The incident temporarily closed parts of westbound Highway 154, but the California Highway Patrol confirmed that debris has been cleared the roadway has been reopened.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation added the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
