Los Padres firefighters fully contain 17-acre vegetation fire off Highway 166

SANTA MARIA, Calif.– Fire crews with Los Padres National Forest have fully contained a vegetation fire at 17 acres with on-site fire personnel remaining in the area to cleat up pockets of heat.

Around 6:40 p.m firefighters responded to a car fire, which later caused turned into vegetation fire.

Los Padres National Forest firefighters were assisted by engine crews from Chumash Fire Department and Vandenberg Space Force Base relay Los Padres National Forest.

The fire was reported about six miles east of Rockfront Ranch on the south side of Highway 166.

Highway 166 was closed between Highway 101 in Santa Maria and Highway 33.
