SANTA MARIA, Calif. - First 5 of Santa Barbara County teamed up with Children's Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara and the Child Care Planning Council to give books and more away on Saturday.

They gave books to children of essential workers during a Distribution Day event in Santa Maria and Santa Barbara.

They are making sure essential workers have children's masks, disinfectant and hand sanitizer.

The recipients were entertained as they drove up and they didn't have to make any physical contact to pick up their books and supplies.

Jacqui Banta, the chief operating officer of Children's Resource & Referral, said they had fun in the sun all day. She said they hope to do another one to distribute supplies child care providers need during the pandemic.
