Volunteers deliver food to 500 Santa Maria seniors

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - 50 volunteers spread out all over Santa Maria on Thursday to deliver desperately needed groceries to 500 seniors.

The deliveries included a variety of groceries, oranges and fresh produce. The Food Bank of Santa Barbara County and the Family Services Agency offers this vital service twice a month is Santa Maria to help seniors who are sheltering at home during the COVID-19 crisis.

Seniors can request home delivery service by dialing 211 to get on the list.  Volunteers can sign up to make deliveries at foodbanksbc.org.  

UPDATED: Other agencies that participated include, Community Partners in Caring, PathPoint, Girls Inc., Santa Maria Four Square Church, Channel Islands National Guard, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Bici Centro Bicycle Club, Santa Maria Fire Department, Clark Pest Control, The City of Santa Maria and many individual volunteers.
