CHP: Wrong-way driver caused crash on Highway 135 in Orcutt

Two people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital.

ORCUTT, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol says a wrong-way driver is to blame for a major crash on Highway 135 in Orcutt late Friday.

On Friday around 11:59 p.m., two cars, gray BMW and a maroon Toyota Corolla, collided on Highway 135 near Graciosa Road.

Santa Maria CHP says the gray BMW was traveling the wrong way down the highway while the maroon Toyota was traveling southbound.

According to officials, at some point, the two vehicles collided causing major front end damage to the BMW and moderate right-side damage to the Toyota.

CHP pages say there were three parties involved and all three were transported.

One person who suffered serious injuries was taken by helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Another person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
