Santa Barbara Community Comes Together for ‘Let the Good Times Roll’ Walk-and-Roll Event

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Community members gathered in downtown Santa Barbara Friday morning for “Let the Good Times Roll,” a walk-and-roll event celebrating inclusion and bringing people with and without disabilities together.

Organized by Momentum WORK Inc., the event aimed to strengthen community connections, raise awareness and encourage greater participation from people of all abilities.

Manaho Takaichi, director of Day Program Services, said the event was an opportunity to build relationships and welcome more people into the community.

“We just want to celebrate the community that we make together and also to expand our connections throughout the community and collaborate even more,” Takaichi said.

“We just want to welcome people, gain awareness and welcome more people to join us. And that's the purpose of this event.”

Participants traveled approximately half a mile along State Street, starting in the 700 block and heading toward the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Even store owners throughout State Street popped their heads out and joined in on the cheering and fun.

Takaichi said the event was a success, bringing people together to celebrate inclusion and create opportunities for greater community involvement.
