Friendship Center announces new executive director

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Friendship Center announced its new Executive Director on Tuesday: Santa Barbara local Kathryn Westland.

Cynder Sinclair, board chair of the Friendship Center, said "[Westland's] passion for and creative approach to senior care along with her outstanding background and skill set is sure to forge an exciting path for the future of Friendship Center.”

Westland has previously served as the center's program manager where she led the organization's transition to a virtual platform during the pandemic.

"Friendship Center provides innovative activities and programs that honor individuality, promote socialization, and foster a compassionate community for aging adults. Caregivers receive respite support and education, enabling them to achieve balance in their lives."

Living with a relative who had dementia has led Westland to discover her passion.

Westland said she looks forward to supporting the organization’s ability to grow and is eager to work closely with the dedicated staff that make Friendship Center so special.
