Santa Barbara Central Library extends closure to Feb. 4 amid safety concerns

Santa Barbara Public Library

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif.– The Santa Barbara Central Library closure has been extended to Feb. 4 due to continued construction to ensure the safety of all patrons.

Originally closed until the end of January to complete repairs, the library extends its closure to ensure elevators work and air quality is safe following a critical failure of the dust mitigation plan.

Holds will continue to be extended for those with books to return. To replace the regular Wednesday class at the library, staff is adding an extra music and movement class at Eastside Library.

The library's main phone line is unavailable at this time, so those looking to contact staff can do so using the library’s chat during regular hours on the website, by texting (805) 273-8916, or calling Eastside Library at (805) 963-3727 or Montecito Library at (805) 969-5063.
